Today I’m going to talk about my day-to-day life here in Mendoza and what living with a host family is like. First of all, my host mom is absolutely fantastic: she’s been so incredibly kind and helpful, and I couldn’t survive here without her. Even though I was really nervous about living with a host family at first, it’s been an incredible experience and has definitely helped me integrate better with the local culture. Every day, I get up at 7:30 and have breakfast here at home; then, I walk a couple of blocks to the bus stop where I wait for my bus. The bus brings me to the Universidad Nacional de Cuyo, where I have an Argentine film class every day from 9:00 – 1:00. After class, we usually have a quick lunch in the cafeteria, and then go on our daily excursion: it can range from tango class to visiting a bodega to going shopping downtown. After the day’s events, I go home and hang out with my host mom; we usually have dinner around 8:00, and then I go to bed around 11:00.
